About Shary
In 1977, Shary Farr began working with terminally ill patients and their families, helping with end-of-life issues.
Since that time, she has created several programs which provide Preparation and Partnership for Life After 60 in the belief that by planning ahead we can ease difficult times for ourselves and those who care for us. Shary lives with her husband, Congressman Sam Farr, daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren in Carmel, California.
1980— Created “Second Growth,” seminars dealing with the emotional and financial issues of being widowed.
1985— Initiated the position of Financial Resources Consultant for Pacific Western Bank.
1986— Received the American Bankers Association Award for “efforts to enhance the image of the business of banking.”
1989— Received the “Women Helping Women” Award from Soroptimists International of the Monterey Peninsula and Carmel.
1992— Served as Life Planning Specialist for Hospice of the Central Coast.
1997— Created “Family Matters” Program for Monterey Federal Credit Union.
1998— Served as Life Planning Specialist for Hospice Foundation.
2001— Helped establish “Conversation with Life”– Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
2002— Named One of Ten Outstanding Women of Monterey County.
2008— Established Partners for Transitions: Providing Planning, Guidance and Partnership for Aging, Illness and End-of-Life.
